A Growing Belgium-Based BizTalk Consultancy

Founded in 2007 by three industry experts in business integration, the consultancy employs 15 staff and serves more than 25 national and international customers, connecting their business applications and partners. It is a Microsoft Gold Application Integration Partner and a Windows Azure Circle Partner, with offices in the area near Brussels.

In 2012, the consultancy found that its rapid growth was limited by a shortage of skilled BizTalk programmers and began searching for partners able to provide external development and support resources. It came across Multishoring via Google; Multishoring then visited the offices in Belgium at its own expense and proposed a trial project.

The Operational Challenge

The first trial task was completed easily — but it revealed a serious risk for the cooperation: preparing the task specification took more time than the development itself, threatening to cancel out the savings from nearshoring.

A Senior-Led Nearshore Model That Works Like an In-House Team

After the trial, both companies invested in a communication model that let the consultancy work with Multishoring’s developers just like its own employees — combining clear coordination with flexible, on-demand capacity.

1. Appoint a Senior Lead

A senior developer at Multishoring handled daily contact, coordinating with a counterpart at the consultancy to specify the jobs to be done and set time frames alongside the development work.

2. Enable Fast Knowledge Transfer

For each new technology, the team used online or self-paced materials, tutorials, and relevant past projects; where none existed, the consultancy provided its own online or onsite training.

3. Keep Communication Constant

Managerial meetings were held once or twice a month, in person or online via Lync or Skype, depending on the consultancy’s needs.

The consultancy purchased blocks of days for support, development, and maintenance as needed — suspending the cooperation when resources weren’t required and resuming it later.
