Oracle comes to AI World 2026 with an AI database, an AI Data Platform, OCI, multicloud and agent integration already in place. The question for Las Vegas is whether those parts work as one governed system across a mixed estate.
The event runs October 25-28 at The Venetian, with free keynotes on Oracle AI World On Air. We wrote this before the event, so read it as a watchlist.
Why Oracle AI World matters now
Oracle introduced these products in 2025. This year shows how they behave in production.
Last October Oracle announced AI Database 26ai, Autonomous AI Lakehouse on Apache Iceberg and the AI Data Platform. Since then, AI Data Platform Agents have gone GA with MCP and A2A support, and Oracle Database services have reached more AWS, Azure and Google Cloud regions. This year, every announcement should come with GA status and a named customer.
Theme to watch: how open is Oracle’s enterprise AI platform?
When Oracle says “open,” it can mean three different things, so check each one separately.
| Claim | What Oracle offers | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Deployment choice | AI Database on OCI, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, on-premises | Same features, IAM and support in every cloud? |
| Open data | Iceberg plus external catalogs (Databricks Unity Catalog, AWS Glue, Snowflake Polaris) | Read-write or read-only? Do permissions and lineage carry over? |
| Agent standards | MCP, A2A, LangGraph, several LLMs | Do third-party agents get equal treatment and keep user identity? |
In other clouds, the database usually still runs as an OCI-operated service, so you choose its location without gaining portability. Iceberg matters more to data teams, but external catalogs in AI Data Platform can’t run updates or DDL yet.
We’d hold any enterprise AI platform to the same test.
Theme to watch: data governance from data to agent action
Policy has to follow the user from the first query to the final change in a business system.
Oracle’s controls sit in four layers: the database, AI Data Platform, the OCI AI runtime and Oracle Integration (MCP gateway, human approvals). Will one identity and policy model cover all four?
| Control | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Guardrails | Model inputs and outputs |
| Authorization | Who reaches which data or tool |
| Data policy | Rows, columns, masking, residency |
| Action policy | Run, wait for approval, or stop |
| Audit | A record of what happened |
Watch identity most closely. According to Oracle’s documentation, the Autonomous AI Database MCP Server can reach anything the database account can. If agents share a service account, least privilege no longer applies. More in our guide to data governance for AI.
The enterprise questions announcements must answer
A keynote demo doesn’t tell you much. These five questions show what you could actually deploy.
- Is it GA, preview or roadmap, and in which regions?
- Can one workflow combine a non-Oracle model, agent and catalog under one audit trail?
- Does user identity reach every system, or does a service account take over?
- Are governance and observability included, or licensed separately?
- Which customers run it in production, and with what results?
Your database version also determines the upgrade path, and that path shapes your hybrid cloud strategy:
| Starting point | Path to 26ai |
|---|---|
| 23ai | Release update; Oracle says no upgrade or app recertification is needed |
| 19c / 21c | Direct upgrade, with the usual testing and certification |
| Pre-19c | An intermediate upgrade first |
Is your Oracle data ready for governed AI agents?
We map who and what can reach your Oracle data, set policies that follow users and agents across systems, and build an audit trail your security team will sign off on.
Governance first. Agents second.
Governance first. Agents second.
What Multishoring will evaluate after the event
Our recap will look at what it takes to run each announcement:
- GA status, with documentation and region lists
- Identity and policy across Oracle and third-party agents
- Write behavior for Iceberg and external catalogs
- Customer data on upgrade downtime, rollback and cost

Key takeaways
- Oracle AI World 2026 (October 25-28, Las Vegas) tests whether Oracle’s products work together.
- Iceberg-based open data is the strongest of Oracle’s “open” claims.
- Guardrails cover model inputs and outputs. Governance depends on identity passed from end to end.
- Ask for GA status, named customers and pricing, and plan around your database version.
